Willie and the Hand Jive

In this lesson we will put some barre 7th chords to work playing the 1958 Johnny Otis hit "Willie and the Hand Jive".

This is yet another three chord hit and it is a I, IV, V chord progression in a variation of a 12 bar blues structure.

The song is comprised of the A7, D7 and E7 barre chords. Let's take another look at them.

The A7 is played on the 5th fret and is of the "E" shape barre chord family.

The D7 is played on the 5th fret as well, and the E7 is played on the 7th fret. Both of these are from the "A" shape family of barre chords.
