Lesson 70 - All Along the Watchtower

All Along the Watchtower

Lesson Goals:

♦ Review the Am, G and F barre chords
♦ Play "All Along the Watchtower"

In this lesson we will learn to play "All Along the Watchtower" written by Bob Dylan and later recorded by a number of artists including Jimi Hendrix and Neil Young.

This song consists of the Am, G and F chords and we will play them as barre chords.

The song is fairly easy to play so let's first take a look at the chord formations we will use.

As you can see, we are looking at another example of a three chord song that became famous. Below is a chart with the first couple of lines.

The song simply repeats those lines over and over.

Lesson 70 Summary

You will probably feel your hand getting tired after playing this song for a while. Barre chords played continuously have a tendency to be stressful of the hand so when you feel the cramps start to kick in, either stop and take a break, or play the song using open chords to ease the hand pressure.
