Lesson 52 - Kodachrome (2)

Kodachrome (part 2)

Lesson Goals:

♦ Become familiar with chord progression for part 2 of "Kodachrome"
♦ Play complete song

Now let's look at the chart for the chorus of "Kodachrome".

As you can see, the first measure starts off with two chords. You will accent the G and B7 chord with single down strokes as well as the E7 in the next measure. Then pick up the strumming pattern on the Am.

There is a similar section on the second line at the second measure and the G, B7 and E chords will be played as described in the paragraph above. In the video we will clear up some of this for you.

Jam Tip!

One thing that can be confusing in this song is the sheer number of chords! But when you break it down you will see that many of them are just variations of the parent major chord. For example: there are D chords and D7 chords, E and E7 chords, and even an A, A7 and Am chord. There is no logical explanation for this. It is just the way Paul Simon wrote the song. It would be safe to say he did pretty well with it!
