Lesson 40

Lesson 40 - Wish You Were Here

Wish You Were Here

Lesson Goals:

♦ Review "Em", "G" and "A" chords
♦ Review notation for "hammer on's" in TAB
♦ Learn Intro for "Wish You Were Here"

Pink Floyd released "Wish You Were Here" in 1975 and the album has since landed in Rolling Stone's Top 500 Albums of All Time list. I hope your memories of this song are as fond as mine!

In this lesson we will learn the Intro to "Wish You Were Here" and make use of single note picking, hammer on's and strumming.

First we will review the TAB notation for a hammer on. Look at the diagram below.

Now let's take a look at the TAB chart for the Intro of the song. Try to look at in sections. Each section consists of a short lead line and ends with the strumming of a chord. We will go over this note by note in the video.

Lesson 40 Summary

Because this lesson incorporates single note picking, hammer on's and strumming all rolled into one, take your time to get a firm grip on this one before moving on. In the next lesson we will learn the rest of the chord progression to "Wish You Were Here".

Jam Tip!

This TAB is by far the most complicated looking one that we have worked with up to this point. But if you are familiar with the song, when you break it down section by section you will see that it is fairly easy.
